Time in Range is a metric that complements HbA1c and provides actionable information for you and your patients. It helps you quickly assess patients’ glucose, contextualise their HbA1c and increase their Time in Range.
Time in Range is the percentage of time per day a person spends within target glucose range. The FreeStyle Libre system automatically calculates the percentage of time your patient spends in, above, or below target range.
The International Consensus sets clear targets for Time in Range1.
Increased %TIR is correlated with reduced risk of diabetes related heart4, kidney3 and eye3 disease, as well as better peripheral nerve function.6
HbA1c reflects average glucose over the last 2–3 months; it does not show glycaemic excursions of hyper- and hypoglycaemia.7
An increase in Time in Range results in a decrease in HbA1c.
Estimate of HbA1c for a given Time in Range level based on T1D and T2D studies2:
When your patient scans their sensor, the FreeStyle LibreLink app◊ will automatically calculate the percentage of time they spend in, above, or below target range. This will help identify where your patient needs more support in managing their overall diabetes health.
This Time in Target report shows a person who spent 75% of their day in target glucose range:
Real world data show FreeStyle Libre system users increased Time in Range with more frequent scan rate.5
