If they want to use the Reader and the app with the same Sensor, they should follow these steps:

1. Your patients MUST use their Reader to start a new FreeStyle Libre 2 Sensor. A Sensor started with the app cannot be used with the FreeStyle Libre 2 reader

2. Once the Sensor is started with the Reader, they should open their app and scan their Sensor with the app

3. Once the Sensor has warmed up, your patients can use either the app or the Reader to check glucose for up to 14 days

4. Your patients should scan the Sensor with the Reader or app within an 8-hour time period to avoid gaps in data

Remember that:
1. Patients choose which device they want to receive alarms: FreeStyle Libre 2 reader or FreeStyle LibreLink app. They must start their FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with that selected device. Once the patient scans their FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with that device, they can receive alarms only on that device.
2. The FreeStyle LibreLink app^◊ and FreeStyle Libre 2 reader do not share data with each other. For example, if users switch between your Reader and the app, they may see gaps in their glucose data, which will affect the reports available through the Reader, the FreeStyle LibreLink app, and LibreView. It is important users continue scanning the Sensor with either the app or the Reader at least once every eight hours so you and your patients can get a complete picture of your glucose trends and patterns.
