No. With the FreeStyle Libre 2 system, patients do not need to scan to receive a glucose reading if they are using the LibreLink^◊ app v2.12.1 or later. When their Libre 2 Plus sensor is paired with their smartphone, they will automatically see the latest glucose information after they open the app or when they receive an alarm^{^} notification on their compatible smartphone. Patients will still have the option to scan their phone or reader for glucose readings anytime including periods of signal loss.

◊ The FreeStyle LibreLink app is only compatible with certain mobile devices and operating systems. Please check the website for more information about device compatibility before using the app. Sharing of glucose data requires registration with LibreView.
